Elche’s Sweet and Savory Secrets: Food Tour

Elche is known around the world for its palm groves — a UNESCO World Heritage Site — but ask any local and they’ll tell you the city has another treasure: its food. With fertile farmland (la huerta) all around and the Mediterranean Sea just a short drive away, Elche has built a culinary tradition that’s both ancient and alive, simple and surprising.

Our Sweet and Savory Food Tour is designed for travellers who want to go beyond the postcard and taste the city’s true character. In just a few hours, you’ll meet local producers and taste dishes that connect Elche’s past with its present.

Description

A Walk Through Flavours

The tour begins in the historic centre, at the Basílica de Santa María, and from there we’ll stroll through the streets where history and tradition meet. Along the way, we’ll stop for 10 different tastings of Elche’s specialties.

You might try savory bites like cured meats, local cheeses, olives, or fresh seafood. And of course, Elche’s sweeter side will also be on the menu: dates from the palm grove, traditional pastries, and other delicacies that have been enjoyed here for generations.

Raise a Glass

Food always tastes better with the right drink. That’s why your experience also includes three glasses of local wine or traditional non-alcoholic beverages, carefully chosen to pair with the food tastings. It’s a chance to discover flavours you won’t easily find outside this region.
